Supporting Locals in Need: are-able Mt Gambier Joins Forces with Four Reasons Why

In a heartwarming show of community spirit, are-able Mt Gambier has proudly partnered with Four Reasons Why—a local charity dedicated to making life better for those doing it tough in the Limestone Coast.

Founded in 2017 by Mount Gambier single mother of four, Trudi Shelton, Four Reasons Why began as a simple idea: to help people in her community who needed it most. Today, it has grown into a respected and trusted grassroots initiative that provides support, resources, and opportunities for local children, families, and individuals experiencing hardship.

With a strong focus on targeted campaigns, the charity collects and distributes quality pre-loved and brand-new items including winter clothing, drink bottles, school and sports supplies, hygiene products, and even club memberships—all designed to meet the real, immediate needs of the community. Importantly, every donation received stays local and benefits local people.

In a recent show of support, are-able Mt Gambier donated a range of brand-new essentials including pillows, raincoats, and undergarments to help local families prepare for the colder months ahead.

“We believe in the power of community and the importance of ensuring that everyone—no matter their circumstances—has access to the basics,” said Jenny Brown, Site Manager at are-able Mt Gambier. “Trudi’s work through Four Reasons Why is inspiring. It’s a reminder that one person’s vision can create real, lasting change, and we’re proud to stand beside her in this mission.”

For many families facing financial or housing instability, something as simple as a dry raincoat, clean socks, or a warm pillow can restore a sense of dignity and comfort. By working together with initiatives like Four Reasons Why, are-able continues to deepen its commitment to community engagement and meaningful, person-centred support.

This collaboration reflects are-able’s broader mission of strengthening local communities and creating opportunities for all individuals to live well and thrive.
