are-able Mt Gambier Empowers Local Youth, Creating Pathways to a Bright Future

Good news spreads fast, and today, we are thrilled to share a heartwarming story of empowerment and transformation from our very own community in Mt Gambier. This tale is a testament to the incredible work of are-able, who has inspired the lives of the youth in our community.

With a heartfelt focus on Disability Employment Services (DES), are-able has been a beacon of hope for young people aged 18 to 30, providing them with the tools and opportunities needed to shine in the workforce. Under the compassionate guidance of employment consultant Leigh Harpham and team leader Jenny Brown, a diverse group of clients with different backgrounds, abilities, and dreams have flourished on their employment journey.

No challenge was too great for these remarkable individuals. They faced barriers such as social and general anxiety, and autism, yet their resilience and determination shone brightly. Thanks to are-able’s comprehensive programs, including the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program and DES services, they have overcome the odds and emerged as true champions.

To celebrate their hard-earned success, are-able organised a special gathering where clients could come together to share their dreams and aspirations. This event served as a catalyst for them to envision their ideal workplaces, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. With personalised support in interview techniques and professional attire, they were well-prepared for future employment opportunities.

The gathering concluded with a heartwarming lunch provided by the beloved OK Pie shop, a token of appreciation for the remarkable efforts made by these exceptional individuals.

The clients unanimously proclaimed that gaining employment not only means financial independence and stability, but also a profound sense of purpose and belonging.

are-able continues to be committed to empowering individuals in the Mt Gambier community, supporting them in their pursuit of employment and personal growth. Through the dedication of employment consultants like Leigh Harpham and Jenny Brown, are-able strives to transform lives and build a more inclusive and prosperous society.
