Are-able Celebrates NAIDOC Week with the Dhauward-Wurrung Community in Portland
NAIDOC Week serves as a meaningful time to recognise and celebrate the diverse cultures, languages, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Are-able stood proudly alongside the Dhauward-Wurrung community as they raised the NAIDOC Week flag. During the festivities, the Are-able Portland team were honoured to witness a traditional smoking ceremony, embracing the spiritual connection to the land and ancestors, fostering healing and respect. Additionally, the team organized a painting activity to commemorate the spirit of NAIDOC Week. This special event pays homage to the remarkable heritage and invaluable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
During NAIDOC Week, we pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and those who continue to fight for us across all our Nations, honouring their invaluable contributions. Are-able remains deeply committed to nurturing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Let us come together in a spirit of learning, understanding, and support for reconciliation efforts. Join us as we celebrate the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures during NAIDOC Week!
