Are-able Education and Training Launches New Standard Mental Health First Aid Refresher Course

Are-able Education and Training, a leading provider of vocational education and training, has recently launched a new course that aims to provide individuals and workplaces with up-to-date knowledge and skills on how to provide mental health first aid. The Standard Mental Health First Aid Refresher course is designed to equip participants with the necessary tools to help friends, family members, co-workers, and other adults who may be experiencing mental health issues.

The course has been developed by Are-able Education and Training’s Senior Trainer and Assessors, Kris and Suzanne, who recently completed an intense week of Mental Health First Aid Training in Melbourne with Mental Health First Aid Australia. Both Kris and Suzanne are licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructors, and Kris has also completed her accreditation for delivering the refresher course.

The Standard Mental Health First Aid Refresher course is designed for individuals who have previously completed the Standard Mental Health First Aid course and are looking to refresh their skills and knowledge. The course covers a range of topics, including how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health issues, how to provide initial help, and how to guide a person towards appropriate professional help.

“We are proud to offer this new course to our community,” said are-able Education and Training Manager, Nathan Isles. “We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we want to ensure that everyone has access to the necessary skills and knowledge to provide mental health first aid when needed.”
The course is available to individuals and workplaces across Victoria and can be delivered in-person or online. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Mental Health First Aid Refresher Certificate, valid for three years.
