Celebrating Biak’s Resilience and Driving Success

Biak has been a valued participant in our Parent Pathways program in Mildura for just over a year. When she first joined, she spoke very little English, and we worked closely with an interpreter to ensure she could fully access the support available to her. Over the past year, Biak has shown tremendous commitment to her personal growth and independence. Her English skills have improved significantly, and she is now able to communicate confidently without the support of an interpreter, a fantastic achievement in itself.

One of Biak’s goals was to obtain her driver’s licence. To support her on this journey, are-able funded nine driving lessons with Licensed To Drive. Unfortunately, her initial funding was exhausted before she was able to complete all the lessons she needed. While she was content to wait for her annual plan review and funding reset, Biak demonstrated remarkable determination by taking the initiative to continue pursuing her goal independently.

Rather than putting her plans on hold, Biak arranged and paid for additional driving lessons herself. Her hard work, persistence, and willingness to invest in her own future paid off. On her third attempt, she successfully passed her driving test and obtained her driver’s licence. This achievement is a testament to her unwavering dedication and belief in herself.

Biak’s journey is a wonderful example of resilience, determination, and growing independence. From overcoming language barriers to achieving a major personal goal, she has shown what can be accomplished through dedication and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next. Together, we create opportunity, and Biak’s story truly embodies this.
