New Collaboration Brings Vital Psychosocial Support and Training to Portland
are-able is excited to announce a powerful new collaboration with The Power in You Project, expanding our service supports in Portland to help address a critical gap in local care. Together, we are creating opportunities and building capacity where it is needed most.
The Power in You Project is a not-for-profit organisation supporting NDIS participants and community members with psychosocial disabilities, addiction support needs, and those engaged with the justice system. Our strong new focus on psychosocial disability within are-able’s formal training programmes is helping shape the future of support services across the community. As demand for NDIS psychosocial supports continues to grow, so too does the need for skilled, compassionate workers ready to make a real difference.
Through these programmes, are-able Education and Training is proud to prepare students for meaningful careers supporting people with psychosocial disability under the NDIS. This collaboration has already established much-needed psychosocial supports in Portland, including the employment of an additional dedicated psychosocial support worker through are-able Education and Training. Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) student Bill Hayley has recently stepped into this important role, providing one-on-one NDIS supports tailored to psychosocial disability. Bill shares, “I absolutely love it! I can see that I can really make a difference and help my participants. Having life experience in this area has given me the ability to truly understand what our participants are feeling, experiencing, and need.”
This collaboration represents the best of community partnership, creating opportunities, building capacity, and delivering vital support where it is needed most. We are committed to working alongside our partners to build inclusive communities and support people to build skills, confidence, and pathways to meaningful work.
We are proud of the impact we are making together.
