From study to meaningful work: A Parent Pathways success story in Mildura

We recently had the privilege of supporting an individual in Mildura through our Parent Pathways program, as they pursued their dream of becoming a Personal Care Assistant. Already committed to their goal, they were undertaking a Certificate III in Individual Support, focusing on aged care and disability. Our role was to provide the practical and personal support needed to help them successfully complete their studies and transition into meaningful employment.

Our team provided a wide range of tailored support, understanding that every journey is unique. This included non-vocational funding for essential needs like grocery vouchers, ensuring daily living was less of a worry. We also assisted with practical requirements for their career path, such as funding for a CPR refresher course, an NDIS Screening Check, and engagement vouchers. Recognising the importance of reliable transport for placements, we helped with vehicle registration, a car service, and fuel vouchers, demonstrating our commitment to local support and real impact.

With this comprehensive backing, the participant successfully completed their qualification and began their placement at an aged care facility. Their dedication shone through, and upon finishing their placement hours, they were offered an employment contract. Our mentor was there every step of the way, providing a professional reference and assisting with resume development and the job application process, helping to build confidence and clear pathways to work.

Now employed as a Personal Care Assistant, they have transitioned into our Post Placement Support phase. We continue to offer regular check-ins, flexible servicing, and assistance with uniform options, ensuring they feel supported in their new role. Together, we create opportunity, and we are incredibly proud to see this individual thriving in their chosen career, making a real difference in their community.
