A new pathway to work in Colac

A new pathway to work in Colac

In Colac, we supported a 29-year-old man who had been out of work for a long time and felt unsure about his next step. With limited recent work experience, no current driver’s licence, and transport challenges, employment felt out of reach.

We worked alongside him with practical, tailored support to help rebuild confidence and open new options, including:

  • support to work through the steps to regain his driver’s licence

  • employability skills training, including CV support and interview preparation

  • first aid training and support to complete his RSA

  • connecting with local employers and presenting his strengths through reverse marketing

With the right supports in place, he secured a role as a labourer and general yard person with a local Colac business.

He told are-able, “I love this job so much, I didn’t think I’d get here. I like going to work every day.”

We continue to provide post-placement support to help him settle into the role, build on his strengths, and keep moving forward at work.

This story is a reminder that when barriers are met with steady, local support, people can build skills, confidence, and a clearer pathway to work and independence.

Together, we create opportunity.
