Helmi’s Pathway to Confidence, Learning, and Independence

Helmi’s Pathway to Confidence, Learning, and Independence

When Helmi joined the Parent Pathways program in June 2025, she was looking for support to build skills, grow her confidence, and work towards long-term goals for herself and her family. Living in Robinvale, Helmi first connected with Mentor Annalise during a community Coffee and Chat session at the local Resource Centre, a simple conversation that became the start of a meaningful journey.

Since then, Parent Pathways has supported Helmi through a range of practical steps to help her move forward. She received an ongoing support voucher and assistance with course fees, allowing her to enrol in the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. She is progressing well in her studies and building a clear pathway into a career she’s passionate about.

Helmi also had a goal to get her Learner’s Permit. Together with Annalise, she created her VicRoads account, completed online modules, and worked through every stage of the process. Her hard work paid off, and she is now taking the next step through the Drive to Thrive Robinvale initiative.

Drive to Thrive is delivered in partnership with Local Jobs and Licensed to Drive. Local Jobs funds travel between Mildura and Robinvale, and Parent Pathways covers the cost of Helmi’s driving sessions. Through this collaboration, Helmi now has consistent access to professional driving lessons, helping her work towards her licence and greater independence.

Helmi’s story is a strong example of how connected, community-based support can change lives. With persistence, the right partnerships, and a program that meets parents where they are, she is building the future she wants.

We are proud of everything Helmi has achieved so far and excited to see what comes next.
