are-able Portland Connects with Families at Winda Mara Back to School Event
At are-able, we believe in the power of local connection and community support. Our team from Portland recently had the privilege of attending the Winda Mara ‘Back to School’ event, an important gathering for local Indigenous families.
Tess and Beck from our Portland site were delighted to participate, bringing information about our Parent Pathways and Transition to Work programs. This event is a wonderful initiative by Winda Mara, aimed at supporting children from kindergarten through to high school as they prepare for the academic year. It provides a valuable opportunity for families to access resources and connect with local services.
We were thrilled to see the incredible turnout, with 108 children and their families attending this year, an increase from 75 last year. It was a fantastic chance for our team to engage directly with community members, discuss their needs, and explain how our programs can help individuals build skills, confidence, and pathways to meaningful work.
Events like these are crucial for fostering strong community ties and ensuring that our support reaches those who need it most. We are proud to work alongside local organisations like Winda Mara to create opportunities and build inclusive communities where everyone feels supported and valued.
