Empowering Individuals through Training: Anne McKeever’s Journey with are-able Training

At are-able Education and Training, we believe in the transformative power of education. Our commitment to providing top-notch training and support has allowed individuals like Anne McKeever to embark on a journey of personal and professional growth. Anne’s story is an example of how our courses can change lives, particularly in the realm of disability and aged care.

Anne, a determined and passionate individual, found herself at a crossroads after being made redundant from her previous employment. Uncertain about her next steps, she sought advice from someone who had recently completed our Certificate III Individual Support Disability Focus course. Hearing about their rewarding career in the industry and the happiness they found in their job, Anne decided to explore are-able training further and soon enrolled in the course.

One of the pillars of our success at are-able is the close relationship between our students and trainers. Anne had the opportunity to work closely with her trainer, who was always available to provide guidance and support. Anne shared, “My trainer was always available to speak to me and gave me the one-on-one time when needed. The support was wonderful.” This personalised approach to training ensures that our students receive the attention and assistance they need to excel in their studies.

Anne successfully completed the Certificate III Individual Support Disability Focus course, which included 120 hours of placement. However, her journey took an exciting turn when she secured employment early on during her placement hours. She was able to use her work hours to complete her placement, a testament to the practicality and relevance of our training programs.

Reflecting on her experience with are-able, Anne expressed her satisfaction and newfound sense of purpose. “I really enjoyed getting back to studying this year and enjoyed meeting new people committed to the disability supports needed and advocating for the rights of disabled people in our community.”

Anne’s journey with are-able didn’t stop at graduation. She now holds a meaningful position as a disability support worker, employed by two organisations. Her newfound career path has had a profound impact on her life, and she couldn’t be happier. “I feel I have achieved more than I ever expected to. I am employed by two organizations as a disability support worker and enjoy my role very much.”

Anne’s story is a testament to the positive impact of quality education and training. She credits are-able for equipping her with the confidence, skills, and empathy needed to support people with disabilities in our community. Anne’s passion for her work is contagious, and she believes that her fellow graduates will also contribute positively to the world of disability support. She shared, “My biggest highlight of the course is knowing that the class group all finishing are going to make some great and positive improvements and changes to the world of disability supports.”
