Barry ‘Bugsy’ Moran joins are-able Education and Training as First Aid Trainer & Assessor

are-able Work Training is excited to introduce Barry ‘Bugsy’ Moran as a First Aid Trainer and Assessor.

Barry has had a long and successful career based around keeping people safe and spanning over four decades. He has worked as a professional firefighter (across various ranks and stations) and OHS Consultant within the emergency response industry.

He is also highly experienced at teaching and training having taught a wide range of personnel during his time at Fiskville. His students included Industrial Firefighters, CFA recruits, permanent staff, volunteers and personnel from RAAF, Navy and Army.  He also provided instruction in underground rescue for the mining industry.

Barry is community minded, enjoys a challenge and keeping physically fit. He organised the inaugural bike riding team of firefighters to participate in the annual Murray to Moyne, a bike relay from Mildura to Port Fairy.  As part of the ride his team raised funds for the Southwest Health Care Burns Unit.  Barry rode in this event for eight years and after his retirement has once again returned to the Murray to Moyne Bicycle Ride, albeit as a Motor Bike Marshall Coordinator.

Nowadays as well as helping educate the community in ‘Provide First Aid’ and CPR with are-able Education and Training, Barry is also president of the Daybreak Rotary Club.

In his spare time (if you can believe it!), Barry is also President of the Motorbike Club where you might spot him out and about with his easily identifiable Harley Davidson motorcycle with a registration plate displaying ‘Bugsy’.

Despite his work with are-able Education and Training, his role as president within various clubs, his volunteering and incredibly impressive career, Barry now considers himself to be semi-retired. He is enjoying what he says is life’s greatest pleasure, “spending time with my ten grandchildren”.

are-able Education and Training is excited to have Barry on the team. We have two highly skilled and dedicated First Aid trainers in Kristine Zimmer and Barry Moran to train people to perform First Aid and CPR.
